Wuun the Realm of Water

A fictional realm not found in the established lore of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Wuun the Realm of Water

The Mortal Realms are eight vast, interconnected planes of existence that form the foundation of the Warhammer Age of Sigmar setting. They are Azyr, Ghyran, Ghur, Chamon, Aqshy, Shyish, Hysh, and Ulgu. There is no realm named 'Wuun' in established canon. The closest canonical realm associated with water is Ghyran (the Realm of Life), which includes vast oceans and water features, but it is not exclusively a water plane.

Lore & Background

The Lumineth Realm-lords primarily inhabit Hysh (the Realm of Light), not a water realm called Wuun. The Mortal Realms were not created by Sigmar; they existed before his arrival, and he later united them. Any claims of a separate water realm or its creation by Sigmar are inaccurate.

In Their Own Story

Captain Valerius gripped the wheel of his crystal-hulled skiff as the horizon dissolved into white mist. The water beneath him churned with a sudden, angry violet hue—a sign of rage rippling through the realm from another plane. He whispered a prayer to Sigmar, steadying his breath against the salt spray that tasted like iron. Below the surface, something massive shifted, its shadow blotting out the twin suns before vanishing into the deep.

Reader's Guide

Following the cataclysmic end of the Old World, Sigmar forged the Mortal Realms to preserve existence against Chaos. Wuun stands as the plane of fluidity, embodying water, change, and raw human emotion within the new cosmology. Unlike solid ground found in other realms, this domain shifts constantly, reflecting the inner turmoil or calm of those who enter its waters. Historically, the Lumineth Realm-lords settled upon floating archipelagos within Wuun to escape the corruption that plagued other planes. They harness the magical currents to power their arcane defenses and sailing vessels, maintaining order against the wild tides. The realm serves as a crucial transit point for Stormcast Eternals patrolling the boundaries between planes. Metaphysically, the waters here are not merely liquid but manifest spiritual states directly into reality. Calm seas represent peace, while violent storms indicate conflict or chaos nearby in the multiverse. Travelers must navigate through Realmgates to reach Wuun from Ghyran or Shyish, as direct passage is often blocked by chaotic currents that can drown a soul instantly if they lose focus.
