Lord Mazdamundi

The ancient Slann Mage-Priest who shaped the World-That-Was with geomantic might.

Lord Mazdamundi

Lord Mazdamundi is a legendary Slann Mage-Priest from the World-That-Was, a servant of the Old Ones and one of the most powerful wielders of geomantic magic. In the Age of Sigmar, he is remembered as a figure of ancient lore, not as an active character in the Mortal Realms. He never served Chaos nor the Ynnari, and his legacy is one of order and cosmic balance, not death worship.

Lore & Background

Lord Mazdamundi was a Slann Mage-Priest of the First Spawning, serving the Old Ones in the World-That-Was. He was a master of geomantic rituals and commanded vast armies of Lizardmen. He never served Tzeentch, nor did he become a Daemon Prince. After the destruction of the World-That-Was, his soul passed into legend. In the Age of Sigmar, the Seraphon (the descendants of the Lizardmen) revere his memory, but he does not walk the Mortal Realms. The Ynnari, Ynnead, the Soul Engine, and the Eye of Ynnead are all elements from Warhammer 40,000, not Age of Sigmar, and have no connection to Mazdamundi.

In Their Own Story

The battlefield fell silent as the mist rolled in, thick with the scent of ozone and old grave soil. Lord Mazdamundi stood atop the ridge, his staff glowing with a cold, blue light that pierced the gloom. Below him, the dead did not rise to fight; instead, they dissolved into wisps of silver energy, drawn upward by an unseen force. He watched with eyes like burning stars as the souls swirled toward the Eye he carried within his robes. Another step closer to the awakening. Another breath for the God who would end them all.

Reader's Guide

Lord Mazdamundi began his existence as a Daemon Prince of Tzeentch, serving the Changer of Ways in the Realm of Chaos. However, he foresaw a greater purpose beyond the endless schemes of his former master and turned toward Ynnead, the God of Death and Souls. He became the first to realize that awakening this deity was the only way to end the Age of Sigmar's eternal conflict with Chaos. Now serving as the Grand Hierophant of the Ynnari, he commands legions of death cultists and spectral warriors across the Mortal Realms. His primary objective revolves around the Soul Engine, a massive device designed to harvest souls from battlefields. These collected spirits are funneled toward the Eye of Ynnead, slowly rekindling the slumbering god's power. Mazdamundi utilizes potent sorcery derived from death magic and his innate daemonic nature to manipulate fate and transport armies instantly. He appears frequently in faction rulebooks for the Ynnari and is a central figure in lore regarding the Soul Wars. His actions drive the narrative of the Ynnari as they strive to bring about the final judgment against Chaos, making him one of the most pivotal figures in the current era.
